Venture Capital in Copenhagen: Fidelity Growth Partners Europe

Kicking-off informal VC arrangements tomorrow with Fidelity Growth Partners Europe

Tomorrow, Fidelity Growth Partners Europe (FGP), a VC firm that invests in fast growing technology companies, is coming to Copenhagen to meet 10-12 growth startups and connect with local angels and investors at an informal dinner in the evening.

Connecting our local ecosystem with investors is one key goal of #CPHFTW as mapped out by the community on previous townhalls, and tomorrow’s VC arrangement is a good opportunity to try the concept and showcase some of the magic coming out of Copenhagen.

The VC arrangement with FGP is initiated by angel investor Klaus Nyengaard (KUDOS!), who also plans to do one with Index Ventures in Q1-2015.

As Klaus Nyengaard puts it: “We need to put Copenhagen on the map, and one way is by attracting international investors, who can put many things on the table, besides just money. By bringing FGP to Copenhagen, we can make sure that we highlight the interesting growth-stage startups that they can potentially invest in”.

How does it work?

It’s an informal arrangement, where the investor receives a list of startups (usually curated by the organizers and other sources of the VCs) and then selects the most relevant entrepreneurs to them at the current stage. VC arrangements are a great place to build strong networks (in fact, they’re happening all around).

We will continuously look for ways to improve the format and bring more of those for you to Copenhagen soon.  Let us know if you have connections or would like us to help facilitate and organize the arrangements. Reach out to Jasenko on [email protected]

One of the biggest VCs with US$ 1.5 trillion under management
Fidelity Growth Partners are not exactly one of the more familiar names of VCs coming to Copenhagen, but they have offices all over the world, and have an impressive portfolio that includes such, as NotOnTheHighStreet, Alibaba, Neverfail and Wahanda.

FGP impressively has over US$ 1.5 trillion under management and typically they invest €1m to €10m, but for the right opportunity, as they mention that capital is not a constraint.

As stated on their homepage: “We seek robust business models and companies that address a growth market opportunity, with an addressable market size above €100m and a market size growing 20%+ year on year.”
